Computing
Measured compute performance in HPLINPACK – 272 TFLOPS
- 204 TFLOPS on standard Intel CPUs with Broadwell microarchitecture
- 68 TFLOPS on specialized Intel many-core CPUs with Knights Landing (KNL) microarchitecture
The PIK Data Centre computing module is a high-performance supercomputer with a heterogeneous architecture.
To meet the requirements of scientific tasks from different application areas, the PIK Data Centre includes the following types of computing resources:
- General purpose nodes: 160 nodes with 28 cores and 128 GB of RAM – 4480 cores in total
- Nodes with KNL CPUs: 40 nodes with 272 cores and 96 GB of RAM – 10880 cores in total
- Nodes with Big RAM: 18 nodes with 28 cores, including 16 nodes with 1 TB of RAM and 2 with 1.5 TB of RAM – 504 cores in total
All nodes are interconnected by a high-performance InfiniBand EDR network with 100 Gbit/s throughput, which allows for processing of parallel payloads and provides a fast access to a shared Lustre filesystem.
